Even though we didn’t collect $$ for it, our kids have still left their “legacy” mark on the school.
Be sure to check out the new rock garden and flowering cherry tree at the northwest corner of the school property. Doug Hansen (Seiji’s dad, J) has been working with the 5th graders on the garden. This year’s fourth graders will be taking over next year to make even more improvements.
Also, the Spanish Class made ceramic tiles that now decorate the north side of the raised stage area on the kindergarten playground.
Be sure to check these out when you’re at school tomorrow for graduation.

Yearbook Thank You
A note from Jaqui, Will's mom --
I wish to send along my hearty thanks to all involved with this years YEAR BOOK committee. It is elegant, clean and prizes our students on an individual level and of course Barry’s photos are phenomenal. The layout does a beautiful job balancing the student’s words with their photos creating a fine balance.
It is VERY hard work putting together a year book and so I wish to thank all who were involved!
Happy summer to all – Jacqueline James Golding.
Thanks Jaqui! We had a great time working on it too!
The Yearbook Committee: Amy Chinn, Barry Wong, Peter Kaczkowski, Sal Celis and Isabel D'Ambrosia

E-K: Bring a dessert.
L-Z: Bring hot dogs, burgers (or veg dogs/burgers) and buns.
We'll eat dinner at around 6:00pm. We'll provide plates, utensils, and beverages. We also have extra s'more stuff from the 5th grade camp so bring or find a stick to roast marshmallows with! :)
The weather looks decent for tomorrow too (morning clouds, afternoon sun, high of 66 degrees).
See you there!!

Priscilla and Nani Need Pizza Volunteer
Priscilla and Nani are hosting the annual pizza party for our (mostly 5th grade) playground mediators this coming Monday, 6/16. They need help getting the pizzas from Pudge Brothers to Wallingford Park.
Email Priscilla or Nani if you would be able to pick up nine pizzas (paid for) at Pudge Bros (263 N.E. 45th ) at 11:45am on Monday. They would love it it you would also be able to stay for a little while to help facilitate serving the pizza (but that part's not as important as the delivery, of course).

Help Hamilton Pack for the Big Move -- Sat 6/14
You know that Hamilton is moving to the Lincoln building next year -- so, anyone feel like moving a few boxes?
TOMORROW, Saturday, June 14th from 10 am to 1:00 pm: Packing Party at HIMS
Parents and students are needed to help with packing classrooms and the Book/Supply Room. Your window of opportunity is 3 hours – but any amount of time you can give would be appreciated! Staff will be there to direct volunteers. No lifting will be involved. Let's get a huge crowd there to make the work go fast! Contact Nancy Clinkenbeard at nancyclink@earthlink.net with questions or if you think you will be there (to get an idea of the numbers of volunteers).

Hamilton E-Bulletin
If you're headed to Hamilton, now is a great time to get connected!
Hamilton International Middle School PTSA would like to offer an opportunity for incoming Hamilton families to sign up for the Hamilton E-bulletin. The E-bulletin is sent out once a week and a couple extra times a year for special announcements.
You can sign-up directly at http://groups.google.com/group/hims-ebulletin-class-of-11/subscribe, or email Ethan Bradford at Ethan_Bradford@stanfordalumni.org.
While this is intended primarily for Hamilton families, it's also a great way to keep track of what’s going on in the neighborhood.

Thank-You Card Volunteer Needed
Colleen K. (Grace's mom), is organizing all of our graduation responsibilities. Thank you Colleen!!
She emailed today to ask for a "thank-you card" volunteer. Please contact Colleen if you would be able to take on the task of getting thank-you cards for every teacher the kids have had during their 6 years at JSIS. That would be about 10 cards (actually I count 12 or 15 -- see below). If it's possible, it would be great to get each kid to sign each card.
Email Colleen if you can help -- ckennelly@seanet.com.
Our teachers:
Margretta
Maria
Karol
Noemi O.
Nani
Brent
Priscilla
Mrs. U. (P.E.)
Kathleen (library)

and if you include the teachers and I.A.s that have moved on (we have addresses for them):
Maria Kovacs
MaryLynn Powers
Annalise Porras

Picnic/Potluck at Gas Works Park, June 17
Please come to the 5th grade post-graduation party!
All families and friends are invited to a potluck barbecue at Gasworks Park following the JSIS graduation. We'll be at shelter #2 from 2:30 until 10 p.m. It is a covered area so that is where we'll meet, rain or shine!
We will provide barbecue items, paper plates, cups, utensils, napkins, and all beverages. We do need 2 or 3 more Weber barbecues since the park only has one small one for us. And we could also use a folding table or two. Please call Debby Heath (632-9150) or e-mail her at debby.heath@lakesideschool.org if you can bring a Weber or a table.
For the potluck supper if your last name begins with:
A-D- bring a side dish or an appetizer
E-K- bring a dessert
L-Z- bring hot dogs, burgers (or veggie dogs/burgers) and buns
Also, feel free to bring frisbees, soccer balls, baseball bats and balls, etc. We look forward to a great turnout from both the Spanish and Japanese classes!!
Questions? Want to help? Please contact Debby Heath, Mia Loseff's mom (J).

Teacher Gifts -- Contribute Through Mon., June 9
Ok Brent, Nani and Priscilla, close your eyes because this is a surprise....
The end of the year is approaching fast, so it’s time to think about end-of-the-year gifts for our hard-working teachers! The word from Brent, Nani and Priscilla is that they really like getting a single gift card instead of 50 mugs, etc. And we can use part of the gift funds to provide a 5th grade yearbook to each teacher.
If you would like to contribute to a class gift, send your contribution to school in an envelope with my name on it. Cash is fine, but checks can be made out to JSIS PTSA (the gift cards are sold by the JSIS PTSA). The PTSA gift card committee has a long list of gift cards the teachers can choose from.
I’ll collect gift contributions until Monday, June 9. And I’ll be at the 5th grade play performance this Friday evening (June 6, 7:00pm), so you can drop off your contribution in person if you like.
