Share Thoughts About Middle School Choice?

Has anyone gained any good information or insights into middle school programs lately? Has a particular tour inspired you or turned you off? Have you made a firm decision? What made you come to a conclusion about where to send you child to middle school?

It would be great if you could share your thoughts. Just click on the "comments" button below on this post. (I think you need to sign in to blogger, but that just takes a second.) It would be great to hear what people are thinking about as we all decide where to send our kids to school next year!

I think keeping the parents of both classes informed about our middle-school choices is a great idea. For MIchael K., we are hoping that a good choice can be had between Hamilton and Ekstein. We'll be doing tours of both this week.

Also, we are eagerly awaiting the results of Spectrum testing, since that program will be important, if not essential, for going to Hamilton. When are we going to get those results?

I have been committed to Hamilton in support of, and inspired by the International curriculum and the richness of the relations that Maria has developed in her class. However, after the tour and discussion with other parents, I have some concerns. I went to the first tour and was not all impressed by the classroom experience except for the quality of the teacher, and the level of discussion in the Spanish immersion class. Unfortunately I missed the tour to the Japanese class. Can any parent fill me in?
The quality of the Japanese class, in addition to our ability to come up with a way to supplement math and science outside the classroom will be an important factor for us to choose Hamilton. Our second choice (now that we are considering a second choice!) is Ekstein.
