Monster Mash could still use a few more volunteers in the general volunteer category especially: 1) people to set up on Friday afternoon, 2) parking safety volunteers (a great opportunity to get away from the bustle inside) and 3) “Runner” for the 3rd shift (i.e., chat with other parents and make sure booths stay stocked with candy). Again, contact the ever-gracious Sandi Olsen for more information or to volunteer sandrahowardolson@yahoo.com.
From the Community – Community Meeting TONIGHT: On Saturday, October 6th there was an attempted abduction of a child in the Ravenna neighborhood. While child abduction by strangers remains a very rare crime, many people have expressed an interest in getting together to discuss the topic. From 7-8 p.m. on Thursday, October 25th the Ravenna-Eckstein Community Center is hosting a discussion with Diane Horswill, Crime Prevention Officer for the Seattle Police Department. Diane will discuss the incident on October 6th, and ways that communities can be more vigilant in deterring crimes. This event is for adults only; families can decide for themselves how to broach these issues with children.
